Can't believe I knew of PappaRich the whole time and didn't know what I was missing out on until now! Their menu was expansive, but we stuck with their signatures for now. The Roti Canai was so flavorful. Their flatbread was so soft, slightly flaky, and paired well with the lentil sauce and sweet spicy sambal. Their chicken was tender. The chicken in the Nasi Lemak was slightly more on the dry side, but both well flavored. The standout of this dish for me has to be the rice! I need to start infusing my rice with coconut, because it was incredible. Unfortunately, our Butter Kaya Toast didn't end it on the high note for us. When they say butter, they mean a whole slab of it sandwiched between 2 sweet breads. The kaya jam was a bit too sweet for me, but still worth a try. It's a no brainer I have to come back to try more dishes!
Delicious Malaysian food in flushing on the 2nd floor of a restaurant complex. Their hainese chicken is juicy and flavorful. I always get their wet egg seafood chow fun and roti with different dipping sauces. Will need to come back to try more options from their menu!
We came to this restaurant with my nephew and his wife. My nephew's wife discovered this place. She's craving some good Malaysian food. The restaurant is serving excellent authentic Malaysian food. I've tried many Malaysian restaurants. This one came at the top. It will be hard to return to the other places now that I have found this one. This restaurant has the closest Malay flavors in its dishes: the best nasi lemak and the best Penang char keow teow. We ordered an oyster omelette but didn't care because it had more eggs than oysters, so the taste became a regular one. We had roti canai, two types of nasi lemak, and two types of char keow teow. I had nasi lemak with shrimp; my nephew's wife had a regular nasi lemak. Nasi lemak is a traditional Malaysian dish. Most people eat this in the morning, but Malaysia's portion is much smaller. Here, however, it is an entree. Best nasi lemak! The chili sauce was authentic. The savory tastes of most dishes, from chicken curry to shrimp chili, were hard to find. Roti canai, another dish that most Malaysians eat for breakfast, is the best appetizer! Roti means bread. It's not easy to prepare this bread. We liked Penang char keow teow better than the seafood one. Hubby tried the Penang char keow teow from my nephew's order and made a mistake by ordering the seafood char keow teow for himself. That's fine, it was still delicious but the Penang one was the best! Janet was our waitress from Malaysia. She's lovely and knowledgeable about the food. The restaurant is huge, covering half of the block. It's on the second floor. Although you can see the restaurant from the street, the entrance is not on the main street but on the sides, and there's only one side has a working elevator, while the other has the stairs. Either way, you'll find your way up there. We will be back. I can't wait to try more Malaysian dishes at this restaurant. We had a great time. Excellent food and service! Thanks!
Always a great place to come by and eat . Barely any wait time and food come quick . Place is clean . Have two bathrooms
Been here a bunch of times since they first opened & it's usually very consistent and a good solid choice! I'd probably give it more of an 3.5 rating, but round it to 4 b/c the staff & service are usually really good. If you're looking for safe choices that I'd recommend getting it would be their roti canai, their hainanese chicken, and their prawn mee! Those are my favorite things to order. I've had other stuff too but wouldn't say it stands out or is anything special. Overall, again, it's a solid spot for food!
Great service, very quick and attentive with water refills! The ambiance is pretty but restaurant doesn't seem that big so maybe be mindful of waiting if it's a popular eating time. Overall, we really enjoyed the beef rendang and the satays!! Definitely worth coming back again soon!
O m g this was my first time having Malaysian food and it did not disappoint. We ordered the roti with chicken curry, noodles and rice with fried chicken and shrimp. Everything was so tasty and we finished every single bite! The service was pretty fast and I like that the menu came with pictures so we could visualize what we were ordering haha. I'd definitely come back and get another roti with chicken curry.
PappaRich today for lunch was flavorful, amazing, and just what was needed. I went here years ago, I honestly don't remember what was ordered, but I wasn't trying enough Malaysian food yet. Coming here today makes me want to come back the next time around. All of the food was delicious. Roti Canai came with three sauces. I stayed away from the really spicy sauce because my soul couldn't take it. The other two were flavorful and tasty. My entrée, Wat Tan Hor with the Chicken and Shrimp was SO good! My tastebuds were so happy, it was a delicious meal. In the middle of the dish, the noodles are in, and it didn't soak in with the soup unless you mix it in. Service was good. We didn't see our server often because there's a small buzzer at the table if you need their attention. She did come around from time to time. All forms of payment are accepted. Parking in Flushing is not easy. You should either find a nearby lot and take a walk to PappaRich, which is in a shopping center. Can't wait to come back soon.
I got here as one of the last food crawl spot on the flushing trip. This is a Malaysian fast casual? place. My partner got this curry chicken and shrimp dish. Even at the end of the food trip this was so good I kept eating these. Very flavorful and the even rice tasted good! I got some noodle with chicken and shrimp, which was more of a homier mild broth that was good. We might have taken a while to order because of the sizable menu, which we love to take a good look at, but maybe because of it I felt rushed to order multiple times. Also the AC was so strong that my appetite shrank a little once I was inside... Overall, great food for a great price!
